When I think about Montana Creek, I think Rainbows and Grayling. Though Montana Creek has strong runs of salmon, what keeps me going back is the fun times I’ve had chasing fat rainbows and healthy Grayling. Early summer is a great time to fish dry flies for some nice size grayling. When the salmon roll in the trout go bonkers until freeze up. There are always feisty rainbow trout to catch any time of the season.
Montana Creek is roughly 25 miles from Willow. We are frequent visitors because there is nothing better than searching for hungry trout hiding in undercut banks and log jams. There are many access points and walk-wade opportunities. Montana Creek is one you will never forget and will always dream about.
